Non-experts tend to fall into traps that experts subconsciously avoid. I don't remember where I read this idea, but it does a good job of explaining why beginners seem to get stuck on some minor step of working with a new tool, or doing some new task. I see it with my collegues at work, I see it as why AI isn't a good personal assistant (i.e. "book me a flight to NYC for next weekend"), I see it when older generations aren't efficiently using computer interfaces.
